Hey Pete,
I’m always doing competition analysis – this helps us open up our minds about what our competitors are doing whenever they are ranking well. I honestly believe that using web 2.0 sites as hub pages as well as article sites have limited effectivity, if any. I wouldn’t advise it though. It would be better to just create great content and promote it in your target niche than to spend time doing that.
